ShredIt is copyrighted commercial software that you need to register and pay for to receive an unlock key. If you want to see how ShredIt works you can run the DEMO version which will delete files but NOT shred them.

ShredIt 4.5 will destroy a file, a folder, or the free space on a disk. It is permanent so be careful - there is no way for you, me, or anyone else to recover shredded items.
When you throw a file into the trash and empty it a savvy user or agency can recover that file and its contents. In this age of Internet downloads and electronic mail that savvy user could be a child, a spouse, a roommate, a business associate, etc. Shred your files and be sure they are gone!
Installation
------------
If you are reading this its installed. I usually move the ShredIt Icon onto the desktop beside the Trash. If the ShredIt Icon does not highlight when you drag something to it you may need to rebuild the desktop.
Requirements
------------
ShredIt 4.5 will run on any Macintosh using System 8.x. There are PPC, 68K and FAT versions. Most people only need the PPC or 68K versions but the FAT version is convenient for administrators at a large site with a mixture of Macintoshes.
Using ShredIt
------------
Drag a file, folder or disk onto the ShredIt Icon and drop it. Say good bye and don't contact me to ask if I can recover the data...I cannot. If you dropped a disk don't panic only the free space will be shredded. If you want to wipe out a disk (1) throw everything into the trash (2) empty the trash (3) shred the disk.
See Installation above it the program does not launch when you drag something onto it.
